The black population in Canada reached 1.2 million people in 2016 – which is about 3.5 percent of the entire Canadian population. For about 20 years, between 1996 and 2016, this population doubled in size in Canada.
An interesting fact is that over 56% of Black people were born outside of Canada, that is, they migrated to it. Many of them come from the Caribbean, Bermuda and Africa. The data is concentrated here in this interesting infographic created by Statistics Canada:
