The healthcare sector in Canada needs more workers. According to Canadian Visa Expert, the situation is so serious that about six million Canadians do not have a family doctor. Data released recently by the federal government indicated that if the situation isn’t handled differently as soon as possible, Canada will be short of more than 44,000
doctors by 2028. The erstwhile Canadian health minister, Jean-Yves Duclos, unveiled in a meeting in June that the healthcare sector in Canada is currently experiencing a prominent labour shortage. Canadian Visa Expert could confirm that this prominent labour shortage has
brought about new immigration opportunities for foreign doctors.
New Express Entry Stream Dedicated for Health Professionals
According to former Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, the federal government will open a new dedicated Express Entry stream for health professionals in the economic immigration program. Sean Frasers said: “Health professionals worked round the clock to ensure they
provide world-class care to individuals in regions across Canada. However, it is obvious that the health system needs more labour reinforcement to continue getting the best out of our health sector.” “People in Canada deserve the best healthcare provision, and we will reinforce the health sector with a more quality labour force.”
Canadian Visa Expert reports that the new healthcare stream in Canada’s economic immigration program will enhance the quality of care provided by health professionals. The scheme will send invitations to doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and optometrists interested in working in Canada.
